1. Beco das Sardinhas: Nestled in the historic downtown area, "the sardine triangle" is the perfect corner to spend a Friday afternoon inviting the weekend. Today, this triangle includes six great restaurants with patio tables and counters filled with fried sardines, salted and breaded in manioc and hot off the grill. Come enjoy the party and food, accompanied with a loira gelada, the local draft. Located on Rua Miguel Couto 139.

2. Paladino: When you want a quick and delicious sandwich or snack plate, an ice cold beer and more, head over to this amazing and cheap deli/grocery store.  Located in Centro on Rua Uruguaiana 226. Prices range from $2-7.50 USD.

3. Mil Frutas: By far the most beloved and best ice-cream parlor this side of the world, Mil Frutas has not only the traditional flavors, but a sinfully delicious variety from the northern part of Brazil, including acai, cupuaca, and caja. Located on Rua Garcia d'Avila 134.

4. Casa da Fiejoada: As the Brazilian tradition demands, a full feijoada meal is only served on Saturdays, leaving you miserable all week long! If you are really craving this amazingly delicious meal however, Casa da Feijoada is your savour. The place is by far one of the best places to come and enjoy Brazil's national dish, plus all the extras. Prices range from $8.75-16 USD. For a full feijoada meal it is about $25 USD a person. Located on Rua Prudente de Moraes.

5. Bibi Sucos: A popular juice bar with refreshing and simple juice concoctions, here you pick your favorite combinations and they through it in the blender. Feeling sassy add a scoop of protein powder for extra strength, pollen for general health and guarana for energy. The juice bar also serves up great grilled cheese, hamburgers and a nice array of savory Brazilian pastries. Located on Av. Ataulfo de Paiva 591. Everything is under $5 USD.
